What Our Clients Are Saying About Us
Our tankless water heater stopped working right before Christmas leaving us with not only no hot water, but not even water to do laundry or run the dish washer.
So finding a good plumber, you can rely on, is different than finding a good plumber. When my family needed a plumber recently, LHR handled our call.
LHR got my service scheduled immediately for 2 days out from the day I called. Cody, the technician, showed up on time and was professional.
This is a completely professional organization start-to-finish. From my first phone call through the service to the follow-up, the LHR team treated me with kindness.
Cold call (literally!) from Hot Water Heater Manufacturer website. No prior relationship with them. No problem. Came same day. Tech friendly and knowledgeable.
SIGNS YOU NEED TO REPAIR YOUR AIR HANDLER
Common problems that can affect your air handler include:
- Damaged blower — If the air filter isn’t replaced regularly, debris can build up in the air handler and cause damage to the blower.
- Frozen evaporator coil — This is a common issue in air handlers. If the evaporator coil is frozen, you likely have blocked air filters or low refrigerant levels. Frozen coils can cause you to experience a lack of cooling.
- Loose fan belt — If you hear loud squealing noises from your air handling unit or notice the smell of burning rubber, the fan belt is likely to lose. We can quickly fix this problem by replacing the fan belt.
- Leaking refrigerant — Do you hear hissing sounds coming from the air handler? It might be leaking refrigerant. In addition to driving up your utility bill, leaking refrigerant can become a health hazard. Our air handler experts will fix the leak and recharge your system with the appropriate refrigerant level.
WHAT’S INSIDE THE AIR HANDLER?
The air handling unit is an essential part of your cooling system and features the following components:
- Blower — The blower pulls warm air and leads it toward the evaporator coil. The blower also ensures that cool air is efficiently circulated through your AC system.
- Evaporator coil — This is where the warm air is cooled before it is directed through the supply vents and into your home. The evaporator coil can become frozen due to a clogged air filter, low refrigerant, or restricted airflow.
- Air filter — The air filter keeps dust, dirt, and other debris from accumulating inside the air handling unit. Regular filter replacement is a crucial part of AC maintenance and should be carried out every two or three months.
LOOKING TO JUST REPLACE THE AIR HANDLER?
Homeowners often get questions about replacing their air handler while keeping the current outdoor unit. While this may seem more cost-effective than changing indoor and outdoor units, it’s not a practical long-term solution.
According to industry standards, the indoor air handler and the outdoor compressor must have matching coils, refrigerant, and SEER ratings. If you replace just the air handler, the new unit will likely have a higher SEER rating than the existing outdoor unit. This imbalance will result in recurring cooling problems and premature system failure.
Call us to request an estimate if you are prepared to move forward with AC or heat pump replacement.
Are you experiencing unexpected problems with your heat pump or air conditioner? There is likely an issue with the air handler. Worn-out components in the air handler can cause cooling inefficiencies.
Contact us for immediate system troubleshooting and repair if you are struggling with recurring air conditioning or heat pump problems.
